Platform Modernization
The system nobody dares touch, modernized while it keeps running.
The problem with "we'll rewrite it"
Full rewrites fail at a rate the industry prefers not to discuss. They take twice as long as planned, the old system keeps changing underneath them, and the business runs two platforms for years. SKYLOGIQ modernizes in place: the live system keeps serving users while it is decomposed, cleaned, and replaced one component at a time. We did exactly this for the core back-office of a FTSE-listed financial group, with thousands of internal users, and no interruption to daily operations.
What modernization includes
Decomposition.
Monoliths broken into services along the seams the business actually has, not the seams a diagram suggests.
Data migration and integrity.
Automated pipelines with integrity checks at every stage, because a migrated database with one wrong column is worse than no migration.
CI/CD introduction.
Pipelines, environments, and automated testing where there were manual deployments and hope.
Language migration.
Where the language itself is the risk, we migrate to Rust. See Rust Migration.
Documentation.
The system as it is, not as it was supposed to be. Often the first accurate documentation the client has had.
